Applicants

Bridge Housing operates a number of housing programs that are accessible to applicants who meet the specific eligibility for each of the programs. Information regarding each of these programs is outlined below:

General Housing Program

Bridge Housing Limited is one of a number of Community Housing Providers participating in Housing Pathways, the new NSW common access system for social housing.

Housing Pathways has been developed with Housing NSW, 28 Community Housing Providers and the Aboriginal Housing Office to establish one application system and a single state-wide waiting list called the NSW Housing Register. From April 2010, applicants can fill in a single application form to apply for all types of social housing including community housing, public housing and aboriginal housing. The aim is to make it easier, fairer and simpler to apply for housing assistance.

People in need of housing assistance will now be able to attend or contact any of the participating providers. They will not need to tell their story over and over again as all providers will have access to the same system. Applicants can also contact any participating provider or Housing NSW office to request changes to applications, find out where their applications are up to, or request a transfer.

Applicants for housing assistance may be eligible for a wide variety of products, including social housing and these can all be delivered through participating providers. Eligibility is determined through the application process. See Eligibility for Social Housing Policy for more information.

For more information on Housing Pathways and how to apply, including application forms and products available, please see the Housing Pathways website. You can also contact Bridge Housing Limited on (02) 9699 6055 to find out more.

Social Housing Subsidy Program

The 27 Social Housing Subsidy Program (SHSP) properties are located in a multi-unit block in Eveleigh and targeted to a mix of very low, low and moderate income households, who generally are on higher incomes than tenants in the Bridge Housing general housing program.

Waverley Affordable Housing Program

Waverley Affordable Housing Program (WAHP) is targeted to moderate income households who are in full or part time work and can afford to pay 75% of the median rent. To ensure the housing is affordable applicants must not pay more than 30% of their income.  Waverley Council also requires that applicants must have a minimum of three years living in the Waverley LGA. You are also eligible if you currently live outside the Waverley LGA and can demonstrate that you have lived in the LGA for a total of five years (non-consecutive) over the past ten years.
