From 1 August 2018, the Fair Work Commission has ruled that employees covered by the modern award will have access to 5 days of unpaid domestic violence leave.

We are delighted that this decision will support all Australian workers on the modern award who experience family violence.

Last year Bridge Housing announced a new family violence leave policy with up to 10 days’ paid leave for staff who experience family violence.

We also offer training to Bridge Housing staff on how to manage family violence as a workplace issue.

The findings of a recent Australian HR Institute survey reveal that only 14 per cent of respondents currently report any form of specific training for supervisors and managers to help victims disclose domestic violence, and only 18 per cent have any form of manager training to recognise victims of domestic violence.

We are an accredited workplace with White Ribbon Australia, which recognizes that we have zero tolerance for violence against women.
