Bridge Housing has taken a significant step towards recognising the cultural needs and obligations of staff by introducing three days of paid cultural leave a year for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees.

The paid Cultural and Ceremonial leave is part of a new policy which will enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff to take paid leave from work to participate in cultural activities and meet their cultural obligations.

CEO John Nicolades said: “This initiative is a tangible demonstration of Bridge Housing’s commitment to supporting our First Nations peoples. It also strengthens our commitment to our diversity and inclusion goals to increase the employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, including improving our attraction and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees.”

The cultural needs and obligations of other staff will continue to be monitored by our Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
