Bridge Housing embraces our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents, staff and community this National Reconciliation Week 2019.

National Reconciliation Week 2019 is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

On Wednesday evening Bridge Housing will host a movie night to see Top End Wedding at the Dendy Cinema, Circular Quay. Tickets for Bridge Housing tenants are free so contact our Communities Team on 02 8324 0800 to book!

We are also developing our second two-year Reconciliation Action Plan this year with input from our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tenant Advisory Group (ATTAG) to develop practical strategies to enhance reconciliation with First Peoples.

The dates for National Reconciliation Week remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
