Social housing tenants are generally good money managers but are squeezed by the rising cost of living, Bridge Housing Chief Operating Officer Rebecca Pinkstone told an industry forum this week.

She was outlining the challenges facing people on low incomes in managing their everyday expenses at the NSW Financial Inclusion Forum held at UNSW City Campus.

The one-day forum aimed to expand the conversation around financial resilience, focusing on social capital and economic resources.

The rising cost of living is making it impossible for many to manage their finances, which then impacts on their wellbeing, she said.

The forum also heard from Archana Voola, a Research Fellow at the UNSW Centre for Social Impact who manages and undertakes the financial suite of research projects, including financial resilience and wellbeing projects.
