Elger St Glebe residents Ray, Jonathan and Greg starred on ABC TV over the weekend as advocates for the value of social housing.

The news story was in response to a NSW Government announcement that there would be a significant investment in social housing in the State Budget on 17 November.

More than 50,000 people are waiting for social housing and the Community Housing Industry Association NSW estimates some 16,000 more are at risk of homelessness due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bridge Housing resident and artist Ray Morgan says: “I’ve been homeless and I got a brand new home sweet home and it saved my life. It’s a safe place to stay and I’ve made friends through social housing.”

50,000 homes in NSW are already managed by the community housing sector, including Bridge Housing.
