Housing Design

Bridge Housing Design Guidelines CoverSmThe Bridge Housing Design Guidelines is a practical resource for developers, builders, design consultants, building product suppliers and others who may be contracted to deliver new residential developments for Bridge Housing.

The guidelines are intended to work alongside existing legislation and codes that must be taken into consideration during the development application and construction certificate phases of a project.

Bridge Housing recognises that all sites and projects are different, so we have built flexibility into the  Bridge Housing Design Guidelines.

This document highlights the areas we believe require greater design attention, but leaves scope for how these outcomes might be achieved. Bridge Housing places particular value on design that delivers best practice outcomes without necessarily increasing costs.

The design guidelines are a key enabler of Bridge Housing’s vision to be a leading not for profit provider of quality, affordable housing by incorporating:

  • Best practice environmentally sustainable principles
  • Green communal open spaces to host social interaction
  • Robust and durable construction
  • Excellent residential amenity.

The guidelines were developed by a Working Group led by our Development Director Christopher Dib and with input from our Housing and Asset management staff, and tenant representatives.  They will be updated as we learn from future development experience.
