Bridge Housing welcomed the opportunity today to brief Luke Howarth MP, the Federal Assistant Minister for Community Housing, Homelessness and Community Services, on the vital role community housing plays in addressing the housing affordability crisis.

The Assistant Minister visited Bridge Housing’s offices in Goulburn St Haymarket to see the scope and scale of our operations and had a site tour of our 158-unit seniors' development in Elger St Glebe.

The visit follows the Assistant Treasurer’s announcement this week that the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) will provide a $40m interest-only loan to Bridge Housing to continue our important affordable housing development program.

CEO John Nicolades said: “It is heartening to see that the newly re-elected Morrison Government has hit the ground running in focusing on housing affordability and supply as priority national issues and in seeking to empower community housing providers to be part of the solution. We thank the Assistant Minister for his interest in our work.”
