Assets PrivateRentalThe NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) provides a range of assistance options to assist eligible clients gain and sustain a tenancy in the private rental market. Bridge Housing, as a Housing Pathways provider, also delivers these services in the Northern Beaches area and facilitates access through DCJ in other locations.

These services include:

Bond Loan: An interest free loan, of up to 4 weeks rent, to assist clients establish a private rental tenancy. To find out more click here.

Advance Rent: A grant of up to 1 weeks rent to assist clients secure a private rental tenancy. To find out more click here.

Tenancy Assistance: A grant of up to 4 weeks rent for clients currently in a private rental tenancy who are at risk of homelessness due to rent/water arrears. To find out more click here.

Tenancy Guarantee: A guarantee of up to $1500 for landlords, on top of the bond, to assist clients with poor or lack of tenancy history to establish a tenancy in the private market. To find out more click here.

Private Rental Subsidy: Subsidised housing in the private market for clients who are eligible for priority housing with either a severe medical condition or disability while waiting for an offer of social housing. To find out more click here.

Rent Choice Subsidy: Short-term subsidy provided to clients experiencing homelessness due to domestic or family violence; young people aged 16 to 24 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness; former members of the Australian Defence Force who were on active service after 1 August 1990; or households that have experienced a major financial setback such as illness or job loss.
