Bridge Housing works in the diverse communities in which we operate to have a positive impact on people’s lives.
We work in partnership with tenants, tenant groups, community organisations, the not-for-profit sector, businesses and all levels of government to support the growth and development of sustainable and inclusive communities where people have the opportunity to take control of their own lives and participate actively in society.

About the initiative
Bridge Housing is committed to celebrating diverse communities and strengthening community connections through the Bridge Housing in Communities initiative. We do this is by attending significant community events to promote the services that Bridge Housing offers and hold at least two in-house events annually to raise awareness, engage diverse communities, promote accessibility and celebrate diversity.
NAIDOC Family & Sports Day
Bridge Housing enjoys a great day at the NAIDOC Family and Sports Day as part of NAIDOC Week in July every year.
This local Indigenous event is held at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence in Redfern and brings together the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the wider community to celebrate culture, language, identity and Indigenous excellence.
Bridge Housing staff speak with people about community and affordable housing and provide assistance to apply for housing through Pathways. There is something for everyone with over 35 stalls, sports competitions, live music, BBQ lunch and games for all ages!
Yabun Festival
Bridge Housing attends the annual Yabun Festival, the biggest one-day Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural event in Sydney. Yabun showcases the rich and diverse culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples though dance, music, sport, ideas, products, food and services.
Bridge Housing provides information about how Aboriginal people can access community housing through the NSW Government’s Housing Pathways housing allocation system.
