North Housing Support Officer Charmion Rowe loves the local, personal feel of Bridge Housing on the Northern Beaches.

Having moved from a large government bureaucracy like FACS (now the Department of Justice and Communities) with the Social Housing Management Transfer Program in August last year, the change went smoothly for Charmion.

“I’m in the same sort of housing support role I’ve had on and off for the past five years, and I’m still in the Brookvale office. I already had local knowledge of the tenants and properties in the area and there are familiar faces amongst both the residents and the staff.”

“But I like the fact that Bridge Housing is a smaller organisation that is very people-focussed and very community-focussed and I’m in a housing team that works really well together.”

Charmion came to Australia from the UK for four years for her husband’s job 14 years ago. She is truly settled here now, with Australian citizenship and three teenage children who keep her fully occupied with sport, social activities and family time. “I’m a taxi service for everyone else!” she laughs.
