Bridge Housing has thrown its support behind a Community Housing Industry Association (CHIA) plan for a Federal Government social housing stimulus package to help house more vulnerable people and boost the economy as we emerge from the COVID19 pandemic.

On Tuesday 5 May, CHIA released its  Social Housing Stimulus Package. It calls on the Federal Government to deliver 30,000 additional social housing units and to renovate to high environmental standards many thousands more existing social housing properties. 75% of new homes should be completed within three years, with Community Housing Providers to play a significant role in delivering these developments.

CHIA  has also developed a proposal for an expanded Housing First approach Rapid Housing Response  to be funded by the Commonwealth to meet the long-term housing needs of rough sleepers. Bridge Housing, through CEO John Nicolades and COO Rebecca Pinsktone, played a significant role in shaping these strategies.
